Best Agent is the first company in South Africa to process the data of residential property sales made by Estate Agents, across Real Estate brands, to provide homeowners the knowledge to make informed choices.
1. Homeowners
We know that Homeowners want two things when they sell their properties: The best possible price in the shortest possible time. But how will Homeowners know which Estate Agents have the best chance of delivering these? Until now, they didn’t.
Best Agent shows Homeowners who the top ranked Estate Agents are in their neighborhoods. These are Estate Agents with experience selling properties in the specific suburbs and being recognized for good customer service. Homeowners can choose to engage with a multiple of these Estate Agents from the Best Agent suburb lists, meet them and decide which ones they want to work with.
2. Estate Agents
In South Africa, homeowners might sell their properties every 7 to 10 years. This means that Estate Agents, whose business model is dependent on homeowners appointing them to sell their properties, often spend 7 to 10 years marketing themselves to the same homeowners, in the hope that they will “catch them at the right time”. This kind of marketing has been going on for decades, but it is expensive and time-consuming.
Best Agent managed to turn this traditional model on its head. With our data being available to Homeowners free of charge, Estate Agents can now expect to be contacted by Homeowners when they are ready to sell. This means no more cold-calling, pamphlet distribution, fridge magnets or soup recipes. Homeowners can now see who the Estate Agents are that operate in their neighborhoods, and they can choose which ones to contact based on actual track record, average price achieved, and reviews from other Homeowners. Almost like “TripAdvisor” for the Real Estate Industry.
This will save Estate Agents a lot of time and money, and ultimately make them more effective in selling property.

Marcel obtained a Certificate in Estate Agency in 2003 after studying BCom computer science at Stellenbosch University. He owned his own estate agency for 4 years before going back to studying for his Honours degree in psychology. Marcel discovered his passion for technology when he developed a mobile application for the insurance industry and now spends his time finding new ways of utilizing functional technology in business.

Werner obtained a degree in mathematics from the University of Stellenbosch in 1998 and thereafter qualified as an actuary and CFA charterholder. While working in investment banking in Abu Dhabi he completed an MBA at London Business School. He has worked in various roles in banking and insurance across South Africa, UAE, UK and China.
